Eveque 2020 Sportshall Athletics & Gym Mat Catalogue
NOTES ABOUT AWARDS: Using the Score Card and the Points Tables, the participant’s total can be added up and an award level attained. The Awards have been designed so that the top 50% of pupils in an average school should be capable of achieving at least a Bronze Award by the time they leave Year 6. This has been done specifically as a way to encourage the bottom 50% to try that bit harder to improve their own fitness levels and achieve Bronze. We would like to challenge all primary schools to win as many Bronze Awards as possible and thereby increase the average fitness levels in their school. Please note that the Pentathlon scores are more than half the Decathlon scores in recognition of the extra effort needed to be good in all ten events. Gold corresponds to the top 5% in Year 6 when tested halfway through the school year.
Step 9 corresponds to the top 50% for Year 4
Step 8 corresponds to the top 50% for Year 3
Steps 1–7 cater for those children in the bottom
50% and serve to give them targets to aim for.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES BY SCHOOL YEAR:

Our tests indicate that less than 5% of the children in Year 3 would record scores at Step 5. The levels below this are to help to provide encouragement to those in this group to make progress. Year 6 - most children would score between Step 7 and Gold Year 5 - most children would score between Step 6 and Bronze Year 4 - most children would score between Step 5 and Step 9
