Jumping Activities 5

The observer standing by the take-off board will tell the athlete if the take-off foot is landing short or over the board. Adjustments can be made to the marker position until the athlete achieves take- off exactly on the board. Obviously as the athlete becomes more proficient, by improving the run-up and style of attack, further adjustments will be required. Indeed, slight alterations will probably be required on each occasion to compensate for wind, weather and track surface. 5.3.3 Co-ordination Exercises Co-ordination is a vital factor in the success of young athletes in all events and especially so in such events as the triple jump and hurdles.
