3) Pathfinder Orienteering This activity is a development of the Pace Orienteering in which the location of the checkpoints are varied by the organiser. The participants are provided with a Layout Map which they carry along with their Score Card. The added challenge is that when a participant arrives at a checkpoint they must not only write down the number of the next checkpoint but they must also consult the Layout Map to find its location. The use of larger areas for the secondary age groups increases both the distance run and the judgement required from the participants.
